Charli XCX’s ‘Boys’ Video Is a Male Celebrity-Filled Ode to Thirst
Charli XCX can't stop thinking about boys, which...same, girl.
Rather than shying away from the problem, the pop provocateur decided to embrace this entirely distracting issue with her latest single, "Boys," filling the accompanying millennial pink-hued, self-directed (alongside Sarah McColgan) music video with — wait for it — boys. Duh. Lots of 'em.
The roster of popular boys featured in the clip is downright impressive, actually: from Diplo to Brendon Urie to Charlie Puth to MNEK to Joe Jonas to Cameron Dallas, Charli's gathered a girthy gaggle of guys from all walks of pop culture to serve their sexiest, silliest and/or most adorable poses for maximum thirst potential.
Like, come on: shirtless Diplo with puppies? She gets it.
The track, co-crafted with LAUV, Emily Warren, Jerker Hansson and Cass Lowe, is Charli's latest release since debuting her critically hailed Number 1 Angel mixtape earlier in the year. She's now set to hit the road with Halsey on tour in the fall.
“’Boys’ is my favorite music video I've ever made. I just wanna say a big thanks to all the boys involved, for totally embracing and understanding my vision and being excited by the concept. p.s. no boys were harmed in the making of this video," she says.
