We live in a world where it's pretty easy to be jaded. It doesn't take much to find all of the negativity out there. All you have to do is spend a couple minutes on social media and it's right there for everyone to see.

Lot's of folks will tell you that's how the world is now.  All the goodness is gone, all the hope has disappeared and we're left with people divided over whatever they're arguing about today.

I get it, I really do.

It's easy to think that sometimes, which is why I'm so grateful that every once in a while, I get to be part of something that restores my faith in humanity. This past Friday was the type of day that I look forward to.  It's one of those days that you get to see the kindness of people and you realize that this world isn't nearly as bad as people would make you think it is.

Last Friday, I was at Town and Country Foods on 19th here in Bozeman for about 15 hours as part of "Can The Griz", which is still going on so please continue to donate.  This of course is the biggest food drive of the year for Gallatin Valley Food Bank and goes a long way in making sure that folks in our area that need food, have it. The Food Bank is seeing increases in need and currently is giving out almost 4 tons of food a day to local residents.

Let me tell you what I saw.

I watched as individual after individual stopped by and donated food, or money, or both.  I watched young people volunteer hours of their day collecting the food and putting it in the trucks.  I watched business owners stop by with checks written out to the Food Bank in very large amounts.

I watched people come together.

I know that we live in a cynical world and it's easy to get caught up in all that.  I would suggest that's not the real world.  The real world is what I saw on Friday.  It's good people helping out people they don't know.  It's young people volunteering because they want to make the world a better place.  It's groups and organizations that are dedicated to help those in their community.

The world is not broken, hope is not gone, people are not bad. We just have to go out and find the things that unite us. It's not hard to do, we just have to be willing to do it.  So thank you Bozeman.  Thank you for reminding me of something that I know to be true, I just needed a little reminder that love wins in the end.
