Suffice it to say, the the final episode of Big Little Lies — HBO's latest miniseries that explored wealth, abuse and death in small-town California — left audiences positively shook.

Last night (April 2), David E. Kelley's seven-part drama revealed the truth behind the season's two biggest mysteries: Who was killed at the Audrey Hepburn/Elvis Presley party, and who was behind the gruesome death? Across an hour-long episode, audiences finally got their answers and *SPOILERRRR* the perp was more unexpected than Adam Scott's cringeworthy karaoke set.

In "You Get What You Need," Celeste's (Nicole Kidman) and Perry's (Alexander Skarsgard) domestic turmoil came to a head when Celeste finally resolved to leave her husband following a particularly gruesome fight in which he nearly knocked her unconscious. Perry confronted Celeste at the party and swore up and down he would change his ways (he routinely beat and degraded Celeste), and when he got the sense that Celeste would remain unmoved, and that she wouldn't consider staying with him, he lunged.

In a scene spilling over with mania, Perry attacked Celeste and her friends Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Jane (Shailene Woodley), who swooped in to defend Celeste. Even the ladies' sworn enemy Renata (Laura Dern) put up her dukes to stop the maddened Perry. But even though the battle amounted to four-against-one, the ladies' couldn't stop Perry.

Until one of them did.

Out of the clear blue, Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz), the young, crunchy stepmother to Madeline's teenage daughter, sprinted to the site of the skirmish and, with a decisive shove, knocked Perry backwards down a flight of stairs and tumbling toward his bloody death.

On Twitter, fans seemed equal parts relieved and shocked that Perry's death was the one the show had been forecasting all season.

Secondarily, the shock that avowed pacifist Bonnie delivered the final blow was real among viewers. Still, they seemed strangely satisfied.
