Planning a Winter Escape? These Montana Towns Are Great
It's never too early to start planning some winter vacations, and if you are going to stay in Montana, you should check out these spots.
Winter is a big part of the Montana lifestyle. Winters here in Big Sky Country tend to start early and can last long into the spring. Winter is a part of life in Montana whether you like it or not. So why not make the most of it and check out these places?
Country Living made a list of the 40 Prettiest American Towns To Escape To During the Winter. Unsurprisingly, more than one Montana town landed on this list.
Country Living had Bozeman as the 15th prettiest winter town and Whitefish as the 35th. Makes sense when you think about it. Bozeman is near two massive skiing and snowboarding resorts, and we also have incredible cross-country skiing available. We also have ice climbing.
Whitefish, on the other hand, has one incredible resort to ski or snowboard. Plus, their downtown area is known for its winter festivities.
There are other towns we should throw on this list that deserve some love. So here are some suggestions: first off, Philipsburg, Montana. This town has one of the best downtown areas in Montana, plus they are next to one of the best local ski areas in the state. Philipsburg also hosts a yearly outdoor hockey tournament.
I would also throw Red Lodge on the list. Red Lodge has one of the most historic skiing areas in Montana and one of the cutest downtown areas. The cozy mountain town is perfect around the holidays. It's worth the drive.
If you need to lift your spirits this winter, take a little trip to one of these places and soak up what people come from all over the world to see.
