Are Montanans Actually Cool With This Form Of Government Control?
If you pay any attention to the news, then you know that there's been a lot of talk about a certain social media platform and whether or not it should be banned. In fact, earlier this year the Governor of Montana implemented a ban on Tiktok from the State's Universities' wifi networks.
Of course, Tiktok is one of the most popular social media platforms out there, however, there seems to be a concern that Tiktok users' personal information is up for grabs.
According to the BBC, "US officials are concerned that this data could fall into the hands of the Chinese government." I certainly understand the concern about someone's personal information falling into the hands of a foreign government, but it seems like it might be a little too late for that, doesn't it?

I mean, if we're worried about another country having our personal information, maybe we should stop buying our products from them. Almost all of our "smartphones" we have here in Montana are made overseas, and we are constantly buying online products that are made overseas, so I guess I don't see the big deal.
But that's my opinion, what is yours?
Are you cool with state and or federal governments banning social media platforms? Do you consider such a ban taking safety precautions, or do you believe it's a form of censorship? If the reason behind the ban is because of distrust of a certain country, should we continue doing business with that country?
Check out these figures from Trading Economics, we spent almost 600 billion last year on Chinese imports, in fact, almost 20 percent of our total imports came from the Chinese.
How do you as a Montanan feel about this? Are you fine with banning certain social media platforms because of concern over personal information? Make sure and vote in our poll below.
