Another COVID Death in Gallatin County; Person in Their 90s

The Gallatin City-County Health Department is reporting that a woman in her 90s passed away with COVID-19. According to the Health Department, the woman passed away at her residence in a long-term care facility after being hospitalized.

This is the 4th person to pass away in their 90s in Gallatin County with the coronavirus. According to data provided by the Health Department, no one who has died locally with COVID-19 has been under the age of 50.

The total number of deaths in Gallatin County related to COVID-19 is now six.

“We send our condolences to the family and friends of this Gallatin County resident,” said Matt Kelley, Gallatin City-County Health Department Health Officer. “We continue working to prevent additional illness and deaths in Gallatin County, but we can’t do it alone. We need everyone to take simple measures to help us slow the spread of COVID-19 in our communities. This is a team effort.”

Out of respect for the family, no further details will be released.

Around Montana, 252 people have passed away with COVID-19, according to the State Health Department. Despite the rise in COVID-19 cases across the state, Montana's coronavirus's death rate continues to drop. Right now, the death rate for COVID-19 in Montana is 1.0%. That's down from 1.2% from two weeks ago and 1.4% in August.

As of Tuesday morning, the Gallatin City-County Health Department's website is reporting 15 current hospitalizations from the virus, which is the most we've had since the pandemic began back in March.
