There was a big announcement regarding the Montana State Bobcat football team on Sunday night.

Fresh off of returning from Frisco Texas and playing in the Championship game, the Bobcats announced that Sean Chambers will be transferring to MSU from the University of Wyoming. Chambers, who has two years of eligibility left, will be reunited with a familiar face, Coach Brent Vigen.

Vigen was the Offensive Coordinator at Wyoming before becoming the Head Coach at Montana State University.

Chambers announced on his social media Sunday night that he was heading to Bozeman. Chambers posted “Excited to announce that I am committed to play for Coach Vigen and the Montana St. Bobcats. Let's get to work”

Sean Chambers is listed at 6'3 and 235 pounds.  At the University of Wyoming, Chambers completed 49 percent of his passes for a total of 2312 yards with 16 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also rushed for over 1000 yards and added 15 touchdowns on the ground. Chambers was 13-6 as a starter for Wyoming.

Many folks might wonder, what does this mean for Tommy "Touchdown Tommy" Mellott?

As a true freshman, the Montana native from Butte took over to start the FCS Playoffs and led the team to the big game.  There is no doubt that Mellott has won the heart of Bobcat Nation and much of Montana. Mellott is an exciting young player that gives the Bobcats a completely different look when it comes to offense and will no doubt continue to grow and mature as a player and team leader.

However, football is a tough sport.

The season is a long one, especially when you are making runs at the Championship. It is indeed a rare thing to get through a season injury-free, case in point the National Championship game on Saturday where Tommy Mellott was injured on the first drive. Teams must be prepared to face any situation, which includes injured players.

The signing of Chambers should come as a comfort to Bobcat fans.  Competition is a good thing, and as players compete with each other, they often rise to the top of their games. Plus, with the experience that he brings, Chambers has the opportunity to be a leader and elevate the entire offense.

Even though we just wrapped up the season, I for one can't wait until the 2022 season. There is a whole lot to be excited about as far as Bobcat Football goes, so let's welcome Mr. Chambers to Bobcat Nation and Go Bobcats!
