The First Trailer for Ava DuVernay’s ‘A Wrinkle in Time’ Is Here and There’s So Much Oprah
We’ve been on the edge of our seats waiting for another look at Ava DuVernay‘s A Wrinkle in Time since those photos of Oprah, Reese Witherspoon, and Mindy Kaling in costume dropped earlier this week. You can’t just give us rhinestone-eyebrowed, glittery lip-glossed Oprah and expect us to not ask for more. Luckily the film’s first official trailer arrived today during Disney’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, and it looks pretty wild.
A Wrinkle in Time, which marks the first time a woman of color has directed a film with a $100 million budget, stars newcomer Storm Reid as Meg, a teenager who goes on a fantastical adventure to find her missing scientist dad (Chris Pine). Three celestial beings, Mrs. Who (Kaling), Mrs. Whatsit (Witherspoon), and Mrs. Which, help Meg rescue her father. If that cast doesn’t sell you already, the film also stars Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Andre Holland – if there were ever a dream casting duo, it’s those two – as well as Zach Galifianakis and Michael Peña.
Check out the gorgeous new poster below, which debuted at D23 where Oprah literally gave out posters to the audience by saying, “You get a poster! And you get a poster!” Much like the trailer, the one sheet is bursting with a vibrant color scheme. If anything, this movie is going to look phenomenal. A Wrinkle in Time hits theaters March 9, 2018.
