Thursday evening around 6:01 p.m., a 3.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Manhattan, Montana, by the USGS (United States Geophysical Society). The depth of the quake was slightly over 3 miles below the surface.

A second quake occurred around 6:02 p.m., the earthquake was over 6 miles deep and was recorded at a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale.

The seismic events were felt by many people in the Gallatin Valley including Belgrade and Bozeman.  See the location of the earthquakes on the map below.
