Will Crashed His Car Coming Back to Bozeman
First off, don't worry, I am fine. I didn't have any injuries and luckily no one was near me and my car was the only one affected. This is something many people have gone through. I know friends and family that have gotten into car crashes, and I never thought that would happen to me. This is my first crash and I was really shook up about it.
I was coming back to Bozeman from Christmas vacation and roads weren't great. I was about 10 miles outside of Drummond heading east. There is this part right before Drummond on I-90 that is windy and has always for some reason been very dangerous during the winter. So I thought that I was prepared. I was going around 60 MPH and decelerating this turn going to my right. Then all of a sudden I felt my back end start fishtailing. So, knowing what to do, I started to correct very slowly. Then, that's when it happened.
My back tires caught and my car turned 180 degrees and slammed into a concrete median. When people say when you crash it feels like slow motion, now I know that feeling. It was scary. My front bumper flew off my car and after hitting the median, my car went backwards an additional 80 feet. Thank goodness I was wearing my seat belt. Then I realized that I was facing the wrong way on the freeway in the passing lane. I wrenched my steering wheel to the left and moved my car off the road from the upcoming traffic. That's when I found out my right rear wheel was completely off my car due to hearing my back end drag on the ground as I drove it on to the shoulder. My wheel bearing there was shattered.
I am just thankful that I came out unscathed and there were many people who stopped and made sure I was fine and I thank them. That was an extremely scary moment. I was really shook up afterwards. So, to all those people who have been shook up with their first crash. I understand. To all those people who haven't yet, I hope you never have to. Please be prepared. Have warm clothing and a charged cell phone. You never know when you will need it.
