War Z Creator Issues Apology
In his lengthy apology, Titov admitted Hammerpoint Interactive, “failed to effectively communicate some of our plans and actions,” for The War Z, which subsequently led to, “some very negative feedback from some members of our community.”
Titov also claimed sole responsibility for the game’s issues, adding he chose to dismiss the concerns of players after he, “became arrogant and blinded by the early success and quick growth of The War Z.” The developer also believed communication through social networks could have helped alleviate some of the issues. “There wasn’t enough presence of the development team on forums; there wasn’t enough updates on development of upcoming features,” Titov said. “We failed to communicate our position and messaging on the outside platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and various online websites, and when we did this we chose to rely more on arrogance rather than being humble and trying to understand why people were saying negative things.”
As a result, Titov promised the company’s community management policies would be adjusted accordingly, and Hammerpoint would do a better job maintaining contact with its community members in the future. That is, as long as Hammerpoint can win back the trust of players burned by The War Z. “I do believe that we aren’t even close to uncovering the true potential for The War Z, and I hope that in the coming year, we’ll be able to regain trust from people who were alienated by our actions and we’ll be able to move forward and grow the game together,” Titov stated.
What do you think of Titov’s apology? Are you willing to give the company and the game a second chance?
