Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt has consistently brought even more sunshine to spring by its first two premieres, but Season 3 may look at least a little darker. Not only will the Ellie Kemper comedy shoot later in the year than usual, Season 3 will premiere closer to next summer.

Yes, it seems Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 3 will arrive a bit later than expected next year, owing to Kemper herself expecting. As Tina Fey revealed at a Tribeca Film Festival Q&A (Via Variety), Kemper’s pregnancy will push shooting all the way into November, subsequently moving Season 3's premiere later than the recent April launch:

Normally we would start [writing ‘Kimmy Schmidt’] in June. But this year we’ll be starting in August and we’ll start shooting in November. And we’ll be ready to come back with season three by the end of next May.

The first season premiered on Netflix on March 6 of 2015, then still engineered for its original home on NBC, before the Netflix move. Season 2 launched this past weekend on April 15, airing notably longer (and somewhat less-restrained) episodes.

Plenty of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt ends up shot in-studio (while Season 2 featured plenty of fall-set sequences), but might Season 3 look considerably different in winter? What else might change by the time Kemper has Season 3 under her belt?

All episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Netflix now.
