A June 5 trial has been set for a woman accused of running over a Missoula police officer with her car in an attempt to flee.

Lt. Rich Stepper shot Dawnette Eaton in the arm as she drove away after his partner, Officer Deni Poling, was struck Jan. 7.

The officers were attempting to arrest Eaton on a parole violation. Poling was seriously injured and Stepper placed on leave until an internal investigation found his use of force was reasonable.

The 47-year-old Eaton appeared in Missoula County District Tuesday with a sling on her injured arm.

She is charged with assault, escape and failing to remain at an accident scene where a person was seriously injured.

The Missoulian reports she is in jail on $150,000 bail.
