Cassadee Pope, the newly crowned winner of season three of 'The Voice,' was on hand at 'The Tonight Show' to talk about the long road she's traveled since auditioning for the show to winning the title.

When asked if she'd like to take a rock or country approach to her music, Pope told Jay Leno she'd love to blend pop rock with country saying, "I feel like these days they go hand in hand and I've always wanted to crossover to country eventually."

Before auditioning for 'The Voice,' Pope went on a solo acoustic tour where some nights only a handful of people were in the audience, which can be a bit defeating. Cassadee said it was those shows she would say, "Man, maybe I should just sit in the crowd and hang out. Why am I up here? Maybe we should just have a drink."

Our favorite part of her winning story? In the media frenzy after she was crowned as the top dog on 'The Voice,' she said Blake Shelton came to her rescue. Did he ward off overbearing fans? Nope! Pope really had to go tinkle and Shelton told one pushy photog "I'm giving you until the count of 10 and when I finish, you have to let her go pee." Good looks, Shelton!

Pope said of her coach, "He was like a proud papa. He was very nurturing." Awww! We can't wait to here the duet Shelton promised on Pope's debut album.
