‘The Martian’ is a Fantastic Film

One of the best adaptations of a book in a long time.

The Martian is an amazing film about a man who is 50 million miles away from any help and his struggle to survive. Matt Damon plays astronaut Mark Watney who, after a crazy storm, gets left by his crew on the planet Mars. The crew thinks he died in the storm, only to find out he survived.  NASA finds out he is alive and scrambles to not only help him survive but also find him a way home.

Matt Damon brings life to Mark Watney, as he is left alone on a desolate planet with very limited resources and tries to make the best of it. This film is deeply emotional and heavy in drama but also has some great humor. My roommate, who has read the book, told me that the film follows the book very closely and is a pretty great adaptation of it.

I highly recommend this film. This film can win many awards this year.
