‘The Fifth Element’ Redone as an 8-Bit Game

Subscribe to KISS FM on

Forget the atrocity that was released on the Sony PlayStation back in 1998, this is what the video game for ‘The Fifth Element’ should have looked like.

This amazing video retells Luc Besson’s sci-fi tale about a taxicab driver saving the universe and reminds us of everything we love about retro games. This fan film was created by Cinefix, which previously released 8-bit versions of ‘The Hobbit,’ ‘Fight Club,’ ‘Anchorman,’ ‘Pulp Fiction,’ ‘The Dark Knight,’ ‘Inception,’ ‘The Shining’ and ‘A Clockwork Orange,’ among many other famous Hollywood films.

While this film is described as 8-bit, its aesthetic details and sound quality are more in line with the 16-bit era of gaming. In particular, the MIDI sound effects and soundtrack sound similar to what we would expect from the Sega Genesis. Noneheless, it is quite impressive to see the story of cabby Korben Dallas going on an interstellar adventure with Leeloo to go save all of existence from an alien apocalypse. This video features all of our favorite scenes from the original film, such as Leeloo escaping the lab that brought her to life, Zorg shooting up the Mangalores he hired and Dallas saving the day. Make sure you keep an eye out for Ruby Rhod and the Diva Plavalaguna.
