This Friday night, skip the big cineplex and head DOWNTOWN for a 7:30 p.m. screening of The Danish Girl in the historic Ellen Theatre.

The Danish Girl stars Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander. It was nominated for three Golden Globe awards and directed by Tom Hooper.

This remarkable love story is inspired by the lives of artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener, whose marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili's groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.

"You can't take your eyes off Redmayne as a pioneer in gender reassignment surgery. And Vikander does wonders as a wife who stands by her woman," writes Rolling Stone film critic, Peter Traverse.

Rated R, the film runs 120 minutes. Tickets $8.75/GA; $8.50/Seniors & Students (plus fees.)
