Can you believe the Compact Disc is 30 years old? Me being the ripe age of 26 makes me only four years younger than the technology! This got me thinking, what was my first ever CD?

When CD's became the popular music medium of choice, I was much too young to buy my own CD's. I was at the mercy of my parents and their allowance. I wasn't huge into music as a little kid either so my eagerness to spend a birthday present on an expensive boombox or CD's just wasn't there. My brother on the other hand was quite different.

He was intrigued and driven to have the technology and songs before any of his friends. I think the first CD my parents ever got me and my brother, ironically, was Alanis Morissette's 'Jagged Little Pill.' My brother moved on quickly to the likes of Green Day, Less Than Jake, and Weezer while I went for Lion King and Space Jam. Once we got a CD burner on the computer, I began making mix CD's of all my brother's music. Hours were spent listening to Blink 182, MXPX, Lit, and Smash Mouth while jumping on the trampoline out back.
