June 16th, 2022 is the date for the City of Bozeman's new outdoor watering restrictions, and these adjustments are now considered permanent. So when can you water your lawn?
Bozeman may not be the only Montana city to enact early water use restrictions this year. A very significant portion of the state is already in "Exceptional Drought" condition.
Snowpack levels are certainly not at ideal levels throughout southwest Montana at the end of March. A month that often sees big, wet dumps of snow just didn't materialize in 2022.
Well, it means a few important things. Not least of which could be water usage surcharges if we're not careful. Smart landscape watering is the main goal to reduce Bozeman's water usage during this dry summer.
Save water and save your MONEY! Water bills can get big around here, plus we're about to enter some seriously hot temperatures with limited water resources.
Bozeman relies on snowpack for its water supply, with 80% coming from snowmelt in the Gallatin Range, which feeds Bozeman Creek and Hyalite Creek. The other 20% comes from a developed spring at the headwaters of Lyman Creek in the Bridger Range...
How cool! It's a full set of five classes, focused on landscaping your personal space with water efficient design, choices and tools. The City of Bozeman makes a genuine effort to educate and encourage smart water usage.
