SNL didn’t quite have its ducks in a row with the announcement that Hidden Figures star Octavia Spencer would lead the first March show; lacking a musical guest to accompany. Now, not only has NBC filled out the March 4 dance card, but so too will Scarlett Johannson make a return appearance the following week.

We may have seen the last of Key & Peele’s famous anger translation sketch with Keegan-Michael Key’s Luther and Jordan Peele’s Obama, but don’t expect either to give up the ghost for good. Peele briefly brought Obama back for a Late Night With Seth Meyers appearance, albeit without needing the filter that Luther provides.

It hasn’t been terribly long since FOX said goodbye to American Idol, what with the whole “reality competition” craze having appreciably cooled since the early 2000s regardless. Still, leave it to NBC to potentially drag Ryan Seacrest back to the stage for a revival season, throwing The Voice into question in the process.

Alec Baldwin’s been a regular presence at SNL this season, but surely his seventeenth official hosting turn is a big deal, right? Well, maybe not, judging by the reigning Trump impersonator’s promos, which see Baldwin revisiting his SNL past.

It made sense of SNL stars Colin Jost and Michael Che to take Weekend Update out on the road for the election conventions, but now that we have a longer investment in political commentary, is it time to spin off the bit altogether? That’s the word on the street, as NBC is reportedly considering a primetime Weekend Update.

SNL is no stranger to the current White House’s disdain for Alec Baldwin’s Trump impression (probably why we’re seeing it more and more), though the series trotted out another unexpected addition over the weekend with Melissa McCarthy’s Press Secretary Sean Spicer. Thankfully, the real Spicer is a much better sport about it than his boss.

After a small intermission that followed Aziz Ansari, SNL is back and ready for its big February encore. As such, host Kristen Stewart and star Beck Bennett workshop their musical in this Saturday’s first promos. They’ve even got three whole words down!

One day after the presidential inauguration, SNL host Aziz Ansari followed Dave Chappelle’s example to deliver a thoughtful and ultimately optimistic monologue about America’s future, but it wasn’t the night’s only news. Kristen Stewart has signed on as 2017’s third SNL host, due in early February.

It wasn’t any surprise to hear that NBC was mulling a full Will and Grace revival after the surprise election special, though star Debra Messing certainly pumped the brakes on claims the deal was done. Someone may have been doing a bit of fibbing, as NBC now confirms a 10-episode revival in the works.

No one knew quite what to expect from SNL after the 2016 election took a different course than predicted, though Kate McKinnon’s moving cold open and Dave Chappelle’s monologue offered a welcoming return. We even got to see some old Chappelle’s Show faces, but the most famous of all was apparently cut over Trump’s electoral win, says writer Neal Brennan.

The initial shock of Donald Trump’s election left it unclear if SNL would continually call on Alec Baldwin for such an extended commitment, but the 30 Rock alum and ranking host has soldiered on, much to the real Trump’s enjoyable chagrin. Baldwin may even follow in Will Ferrell’s “Dubya” footsteps, apparently taking the role to “other venues.”

We’ve known for some time that Rogue One star Felicity Jones would steal the SNL plans as our first 2017 host, so who should follow? None other than Master of None star Aziz Ansari, booking his SNL debut for the week after.
