Star Trek fans have waited years for the franchise to return to TV, and will wait longer still, it seems. Despite CBS initially scheduling the new Discovery series for a January 2017 bow, the newest Star Trek saga has been pushed back to May over production demands.

The fervor for Netflix’s Stranger Things has more or less passed (now that we have a second season to look forward to, anyway), but with the young stars still making press rounds, Stephen Colbert finally got his chance for a late-night parody. Look’s like Eleven’s back to crushing Coke cans in a new Colbert cold open, but with a musical twist.

If nothing else, last week’s Republican National Convention brought the nation something it sorely needed, that of Stephen Colbert’s return to the “Stephen Colbert” character as only the Colbert Report knew him. That return landed Colbert in some legal hot water, however, so let’s meet his off-brand replacement, Stephen Colbert!

Stephen Colbert has been sorely missing from late-night, and we don’t mean the one hosting CBS’ Late Show night after night. Thankfully, The Colbert Report version made a welcome return to a changed political landscape last night, along with none other than former Comedy Central buddy Jon Stewart.

Two and a Half Men has long-since faded from the CBS spotlight, and erstwhile series star Charlie Sheen himself has been understandably quiet since news of his HIV diagnosis last year. Now, a new interview with Matt Lauer sees the star with a long list of regrets, among them the controversial exit that nearly ended Two and a Half Men altogether.

It wasn’t seen as likely that Supergirl could make the transition from its prestigious CBS home to the more youth-skewing CW, but now we’ve officially taken the plunge, it remains to be seen what changes lie in store. As far as CBS was concerned, the move is “win-win,” but what took so long to hammer out a deal?

Bryan Fuller’s new CBS Star Trek has yet to confirm any real production details beyond the creative talent involved, but the streaming sci-fi series may yet explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations up north. We’re talking of Canada, of course, as rumor has it the new series will diverge from its predecessors with a Toronto production.

According to The Wrap, CBS has partnered with digital video company Interlude (those behind that viral channel-changing lip-sync of “Like a Rolling Stone”) for the “original interactive project” allowing Twilight Zone viewers to “step in and become a part of the story.” BioShock creator Ken Levine will even write and direct the pilot episode.

Now that Netflix’s Full House revival Fuller House will be sticking around for Season 2, it’s time for the inevitable spinoff. Lo and behold, Stephen Colbert obliges with Full House: Nights, the True Detective-style adventures of Danny Tanner and Uncles Joey and Jesse, taking on San Francisco crime.

We’re still feeling out a world post-Late Show With David Letterman, but Stephen Colbert is already gearing up and shaving down for his big debut. The former Colbert Report host finally ditches his Colbeard in prep for the September debut, and you may never look at hot dogs the same way again.
