According to TMZ, Beastie Boys rapper MCA has died at the age of 47. Back in 2009, MCA, whose real name was Adam Yauch, revealed he was being treated for a cancerous parotid gland and a lymph node. The Beastie Boys’ new single, ‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win,’ already had a nifty, Spike Jonze-directed video to its name — but the Beasties aren’t stopping there.

The venerable rap trio has just released an EP that backs the song’s single edit (featuring an appearance by Santigold) with five remixes and an a cappella version that invites fans to add their own spin to the track.

‘Sesame Street’ is known for its musical numbers but generally the lyrics lean a little more optimistic (“Sunny day / Sweeping the clouds away”) than the rhymes in the Beastie Boys single ‘Sure Shot’ (“I’ve got the brand new doo-doo / guaranteed like Yoo-Hoo”).

Still, there’s something about this Sesame/Beastie rap mashup that just seems so right. It’s nostalgic, flute heavy and hey, there’s even some counting! That’s got to be worth something, right?
