Beastie Boys Square may never see the light of day in New York City. A chance to name the intersection featured on the Beastie Boys' 1989 album cover, 'Paul's Boutique,' has been put to an end -- for now-- after the proposal was rejected on Tuesday (Jan. 28).

According to TMZ, Beastie Boys rapper MCA has died at the age of 47.

The Beastie Boys’ new single, ‘Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win,’ already had a nifty, Spike Jonze-directed video to its name — but the Beasties aren’t stopping there. The venerable rap trio has just released an EP that backs the song’s single edit (featuring an appearance by Santigold) with five remixes and an a cappella version that invites fans to add their own spin to the track.

‘Sesame Street’ is known for its musical numbers but generally the lyrics lean a little more optimistic (“Sunny day / Sweeping the clouds away”) than the rhymes in the Beastie Boys single ‘Sure Shot’ (“I’ve got the brand new doo-doo / guaranteed like Yoo-Hoo”). When I woke up today and saw the new music out today I had a flash that it was the 90s again with new stuff from Jennifer Lopez, The Beastie Boys, Stevie Nicks all putting out new albums today it was easy to get confused.  But then I saw that there was "Now That's What I Call Music 38" and I realized that it really is 2011.  Check out all of the new music -
