banger of the week

Yes. Finding next weeks Banger of the Week is always a nice present for Chadwick on a Thursday! Shady's crew Slaughterhouse, comprised of Crooked I, Joe Budden, Joel Ortiz and Royce Da 5'9" bring Cee Lo Green along on their track "My Life" and it's a banger. Nice hook, tight rhymes, perfect.

I usually try to find something out of the mainstream for my Bangers.  This week though I am letting the monster of mainstream music, Nicki Minaj.  "Va Va Voom" comes off her latest "Roman Reloaded" album.  Not really a club banger.  More of a feel good hairbrush track for the ladies to sing to and  get amped for a night out on the town...

Re:Generation is a Documentary that I have been excited to see for quite some time now. Its about the recording process of 5 djs: DJ Premiere, Pretty Lights, Skrillex, Mark Ronson, and the Chrystal Method. But not just the average recording process...

It's obvious that if you go through my past Bangers, I'm a fan of B.o.B.  He's got words and skills that hopefully shake the game into taking a long hard look in the mirror to see what it's become, then wonder why it's wearing snowboarding boots as shoes...

Swizz hits hard every time. For "Street Knock" Swizzy gets together with A$AP Rocky for a track that stays low and hits the subs hard. A track to be listened to on 11. I'll play this track every day this week just after 3pm so don't miss it...

Wiz is a bit hit or miss with me.  On "Work Hard, Play Hard" Mr. Khalifa brings a smooth hooky story of enjoying the fruits of his hard.  Listen for the track at 3:05pm, or listen for it below.  

July 17th Nas will release his first studio album in 5 years, titled "Life is Good".  Barring child support payments of astronomical figures, down to $20,000 a month from the original $50,000, life must be pretty grand for "The Don" as he lives the life in his new video.

I love mixtapes.  Finding new artists and being able to listen to some of their material before committing to an album purchase.  The problem is there is a ton crap to sift through to find the stuff that is good, true, hip-hop.  The type of music that tells a story from an artist that reveals his life, his way of thinking, his style, his soul through a body of music aka "Real Music".  Th
