Happy Friday everybody can not believe we have the whole weekend got to love holidays! Last night got to have a great Thanksgiving dinner, number two but after we were finished we all played Cranium. If you are not sure what Cranium is it is a board game that has four different activities to choose from for you and your partner one of which is the word worm. The word worm ask you to spell things, spell them backwards, what is the definition and so forth. Why I am explaining this is because as we were playing I realized how much of a difference there was between my generation and the older generation we were playing with. The spelling was nothing for the older generation but for us who consisted of ages 23-28 we were terrible.
So today I came across an article that said the internet is killing our ability to spell. The study showed that 66% of people 18-24 think that dictionaries should start adapting their spelling to match what people are typing on the internet. For example LOL......
I am just intrigued with this the article and think it is something important to notice and think about. The article continued to say the we are witnessing the effects of the children born into the computer age. As I am even typing this blog my spell check is going off like crazy with that little red line that just pops right up. So I guess what intrigues me is that A I just witnessed first hand my generations bad habits when it comes to spelling and how depend we are on T9 and spell check never would I think to grab a good ole dictionary and B would something like adapting spellings to match what people are typing on the internet be reasonable and or realistic????
Hit me up what is your opinion???
Ash
