UPDATE (MAY 8): Sinead O’Connor has responded to Arsenio Hall’s lawsuit, calling it “laughable” on Facebook a day after it was filed in court.

“I’m more amused than I’ve ever dreamed a person could be and look forward very much to how hilarious it will be watching him trying to prove me wrong,” O’Connor wrote on her page. “I’m also very happy to notice that the DEA have taken me seriously enough to be thoroughly questioning all of Prince’s friends and aides from the last thirty years as to his KNOWN history of hard drug use and where he obtained his drugs. I do not like drugs killing musicians. And I do not like Arsenio Hall.”

UPDATE (MAY 6): After Sinead O’Connor publicly accused Arsenio Hall of providing Prince with recreational drugs, he has responded by firing back with a hefty lawsuit. According to Billboard, the comedian has filed a $5 million defamation suit against the “Nothing Compares 2 U” singer over allegations his attorneys call “malicious and reckless lies.”

Filed on May 5 in Los Angeles, Hall slams O’Connor in the complaint, calling her a “desperate attention-seeker,” “now known perhaps as much for her bizarre, unhinged internet rants as for her music.”

In addition, Hall claims that O’Connor’s alleged fabrications have no real grounds, as the musician only met Prince “a couple of times” and hasn’t had contact with the former talk-show host in over 25 years.

ORIGINAL POST (MAY 3): Iconic Irish singer-songwriter Sinead O’Connor is legendary for making controversial statements, but her latest public outburst, directed at Arsenio Hall, may even result in a police investigation.

On Monday May 2, O’Connor slammed the comedian on Facebook with a series of serious allegations, claiming that over the years Hall had provided the late Prince with hard drugs.

“Two words for the DEA investigating where prince got his drugs over the decades…. Arsenio Hall (AKA Prince’s and Eddie Murphy’s b‑‑‑‑),” she wrote on her Facebook page.

In addition, she went on to claim that Hall once drugged her at a party at actor Eddie Murphy’s house, and that she has reported both that incident and the allegations about Prince to the authorities: “Anyone imagining prince was not a long time hard drug user is living in cloud cuckoo land. Aresenio I’ve reported you to the Carver County Sherrif’s (sic) office. Expect their call. They are aware you spiked me years ago at Eddie Murphy’s house. You best get tidying your man cave.”

In response, Traci Harper — the publicity rep for the former The Arsenio Hall Show host — denied O’Connor’s claims, telling PEOPLE,  “The statement regarding Arsenio Hall is absolutely false, ridiculous and absurd.”

As for O’Connor, the musician has not yet responded to Hall’s denial, but she does share history with Prince, who passed away on April 21, 2016. In 1990, she released a cover of “Nothing Compares 2 U,” an album cut off the late artist’s 1985 record with his one-time side project, The Family. The single went on to become a smash, gaining heavy rotation on MTV (you know, back when they played music videos) and hitting the top of the radio charts worldwide.
