Seattle has many iconic sites.  Space Needle, Pike's Place Market, the first Starbucks and many more.  There is one place that is not only iconic but to some people really gross.

The infamous Gum Wall, which is next to the Pike's Place Market is getting scrubbed for the first time in over 20 years.  This all happens Tuesday, November 10th.  You might be asking, "How did this happen" or "even exist".  Well according to the Pike's Place Market, audience goers to Theatersports impov show, they would stick their gum to the wall while they waited in line.  It started very small but now covers both walls and is estimated to have at least 150 gum wads per brick.  The scrubbing is to help the integrity of the bricks.  For more chewy(see what I did there) details, check out the article from Seattle's KVVU Channel 5 TV Station.
