Search and Rescue Group Files Civil Suit Against Casey Anthony

The search and rescue group that organized the search for Caylee Anthony has filed a civil suit against her mother, Casey Anthony, to recover money spent in the search to find the girl.

Anthony, 25, was found not guilty in her daughter’s 2008 death last week and is scheduled to be released from prison on Sunday after receiving credit for time served on a four-year sentence, CNN reported.

The group, Texas EquuSearch Mounted Search and Recovery, filed a civil suit against Anthony on Tuesday, seeking damages of $115,000 plus interest and attorneys fees.

The group claims the search organization spent more than $112,000 and coordinated more than 4,200 volunteers in an unnecessary search to locate the girl. The group alleges Anthony knew her daughter was dead during the entire search.

“Casey Anthony made ongoing misrepresentations to TES and its founder Tim Miller, and failed to correct materially false information provide to Mr. Miller in order to convince TES, its staff and volunteers to engage in extensive, costly and time-consuming searches for Caylee,” the lawsuit says.

Caylee’s remains were found in December 2008, six months after she was last seen alive.
