If you still need to get rid of your Christmas tree, the city of Bozeman wants it! Rather than tossing your tree out with the trash, city officials prefer you drop it off at one of four locations in town:

City arborist Jennifer Roth told the Chronicle, "the trees are recycled and used to help beautify the landfill or to provide fish habitat in Canyon Ferry Lake." Last year, the city recycled more than 90,000 pounds of Christmas trees.

You can drop off your tree at either one of these four locations in Bozeman:

  • The BMX park off Tamarack Street
  • The regional park near Oak Street and Yellowstone Trail
  • The lower parking area at the softball complex off Haggerty Lane
  • Christie Field off Mason Street

Trees can be dropped off until February 15th. The city doesn't accept wreaths or garlands and asks that wire and string be removed from your tree.
