In March 1997, Notorious B.I.G. was slain in Los Angeles when four bullets pierced through his body while he was sitting in the passenger seat of a Chevy Suburban. Now, an unsealed autopsy explains the exact nature of how the late rapper died of his injuries.

TMZ uncovered the never-before-seen coroner's report and it reveals some very graphic details.

According to the report, Biggie (real name Christopher Wallace) was shot four times but three of the bullets were not fatal. One gunshot entered the left forearm and traveled down to his wrist. The second gunshot hit B.I.G. in the back but missed all vital organs and exited through his left shoulder. The third gunshot passed through his outer left thigh, grazing his scrotum before exiting the leg.

It was the fourth gunshot that ultimately killed the then 24-year-old rapper. That fatal bullet entered his right hip and passed through several vital organs including his heart, liver and upper lobe of his left lung.

B.I.G. was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital immediately after the shooting, where doctors performed an emergency thoracotomy but it was too late. He was officially pronounced dead at 1:15AM CT.

The autopsy also listed Biggie as "morbidly obese" at 6'1", 395 pounds. A toxicology test also revealed that he had no traces of drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death. The coroner, clearly unaware of the legend, wrote in his notes: “Decedent may be rap singer.”

It has been 15 years since Biggie's slaying and the homicide case remains unsolved. In March 2012, Los Angeles police detective Greg Kading, who was assigned to investigate B.I.G.'s murder case between 2006 and 2009, told Complex that the case may never get solved.

May Notorious B.I.G. rest eternally in peace.
