One of my favorite 2011 Bangers of the Week came from a dude from Atlanta named Pill.  His mixtapes The Refill and my personal favorite The Overdose made some serious noise and he was also featured in XXL as a 2010 freshman.  He as since been signed to Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group.

Pill has seen the success of his label mates Wale and Meek Mills, and seems to be understandably itching to get at it with his own album.  He recently took to twitter going after his label not spending the time on him as he believes he deserves.

“No TV and No Radio.. U do the math,” rifled from Pills twitter, “I bet u can name you favorite artist and the turn on the tv and see the video and hear it on the radio. It's not rocket science. Radio and TV b4 I had a deal, none after and u ask why Pill ain't blew all the way up.”

Pill's been signed since February to MMG and hasn't had the attention that he was hoping for. “Artist sign deals, label doesnt do sh-- for them or don't even know to work the artist. time wasted, Ask Wiz Khalifa what Warner Bros did for him. I'll wait..dropped em. Atlantic signed em put em on TV and Radio and he sky rocketed,” Pill added.

It's just my opinion but the majority of Pill's material is either about the ins and outs of a life spent selling crack and the weight of living that way or about more cerebral issues he sees in his community and life.  Its deeper than the average though.  To me Rick Ross is as deep as the bowl of soup he's most likely eating right now.  No doubt Ross has the amazing ability to sell records, via his amazing ability to jack names, words, and ideas from other rappers/famous gangsters/anyone.  So maybe the MMG doesn't quite understand how to market Pill's music?  With all that said, much love to Wale and Meek Mills...I was banging Dreamchasers on the way to work this morning.

Pill does have a new mixtape titled "The Diagnosis" and a new video for the track "New Shoes, New Clothes" check it out.
