Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family, Water For Elephants, and African Cats are the new movies this weekend.  Tyler Perry has been sparring with Spike Lee a bit about whether the Madea character is all that helpful to the African American community, Water For Elephants hasn't been killing it with the critics, and African Cats...well Samuel L. Jackson narrates it and it has African Cats.

"Tyler Perry's Madea's Big Happy Family" (PG-13)

Tyler Perry once again plays Madea. In this one, he/she helps a niece knock some sense into her children, whose lives are all out of control.

"Water for Elephants" (PG-13)

Robert Pattinson joins the circus and falls in love with Reese Witherspoon.  She rides horses, he cares for the elephants.  Too bad she's married to somebody else.  The story is told in flashbacks by an old man reminiscing about his youth.

"African Cats" (G)

Samuel L. Jackson narrates the latest Disney Nature movie.  The stories include a lion with a broken tooth trying to defend his pride against a rival . . . a cheetah raising five newborn cubs . . . and a lion cub's loyalty to her injured mother.  The release coincides with Earth Day, which is tomorrow.  You may also be interested in the song "Idol" winner Jordin Sparks did for the film.  It's called "The World I Knew".
