Mother’s Amazingly Fit Post-Pregnancy Photo Called Out By Doubters [PHOTO, VIDEO]
Caroline Berg Eriksen shared a photo of her svelte self wearing only a bra and panties on Instagram just three days after giving birth with the caption, “I feel so empty.” Eriksen runs a fitness blog in Norway so it makes sense she is fit, but her less than typical results are causing people to shame her and even question the validity of the photo.
Honestly, it’s stuff like this that makes me sick. It doesn’t make me sick that Eriksen is proud of her body and wants to show it off. It makes me sick that people care so much about what Eriksen looks like. Whether they are jealous, prude, shameful, feminist or anything else, they are only fueling the fire that is her physique with their criticisms. As long as the baby is healthy, what negative effect can her body prowess have on you or me?
That being said, yes, I do find it shocking she could have near six-pack-abs only 3 days after giving birth. Her critics are claiming Mrs. Eriksen’s seemingly unrealistic results are shaming girls who can’t achieve the same results. But isn’t our country built on unrealistic results? Millionaires, professional athletes, talented musicians and beautiful actresses all exemplify the achievement of the seemingly impossible.
Don’t we all hope to be a bit like our idols? Is Eriksen an idol? She could be an idol to an expecting mom hoping to hit the ski slopes as soon as she pops out her first kid. But anyone expecting to have the same exact results as someone else will almost always be disappointed.
As a man, I am admittedly enormously lucky I’ll never be giving birth and I’m proud of all women who experience the transformation. It’s no small feat and Erikson recognized this by saying, “I think all women should be proud of themselves, regardless of how they look after labor.”
Let us know in the comments below if you thought it was cruel of Eriksen to share her post-baby-bod on Instagram.
