Mos Def To Change Name [Video]

Mos Def will be no more.  At least in name.  Mos Def revealed that at the end of 2011 he will be known as Yasiin.  Seems that Mos has grown out of the name he says "the streets taught me" and its "time to move on".

Hip Hop name changing is nothing new to the game but the reason that Mos gives at the end is the most interesting and leads some insight into the rappers thinking. "Also, I didn't want to have to deal with having any moniker or separation between the self that I see and know myself as." That is a hurdle that some celebrities cling to.  Has Mos come to a new level of conscientiousness?
