2015’s remake of old-school espionage show The Man From U.N.C.L.E. was a rollicking good time, but more than that, it was an audition reel for its stars Armie Hammer and Henry Cavill. Hammer brought his marksmanship and high-speed combat skills to Ben Wheatley’s upcoming shoot-‘em-up Free Fire, and now part-time Superman Cavill has also landed a new role befitting his ultra-smooth fighting prowess. He’ll have to run, jump, most likely get shirtless, and appear alongside Tom Cruise in what just might be his most dangerous assignment yet.

That’s right — Cavill has accepted a role in the upcoming sixth Mission: Impossible film, Deadline reports. This won’t be a similar deal to the franchise’s brief flirtation with a full rebrand and Jeremy Renner, however; Cavill has been slated to appear as a supporting player to the Ethan Hunt we all know and love. Cavill and series director Christopher McQuarrie made the casting official over a series of increasingly adorable exchanges on Instagram. In McQuarrie‘s original post, he posed a dangerous assignment to Cavill:

Say, @henrycavill. Had a thought. Curious if you're interested in a role in the 6th installment of Mission: Impossible. No pressure.

And then Cavill was like, “How can I say no to a man with such perfect hair...” and then McQuarrie was like, “Excellent. Just a few caveats: Must enjoy extreme heights, high speeds, motor vehicles of all varieties (especially aircraft), practical stunts, firearms, and sporadic exposition. All good?” and then Cavill was like, “Only if I get to fly for real,” and then McQuarrie was like, “I do believe I specified practical stunts. You in?” and then Cavill was like, “Oh ok ... I’m in!” and then McQuarrie was like, “Outstanding. Welcome aboard. Your social media account will self destruct in 5 seconds.” At this point, it is unclear whether Cavill and McQuarrie will be collaborating on a feature film, or if they’ve both got crushes on one another. God knows I do.

The still to-be-titled sixth Mission: Impossible will airdrop into theaters on July 27, 2018.
