Meek Mill is on a mission to do something about the current state of the criminal justice system. For his next feat, he and Kanye West's wife Kim Kardashian will speak at the inaugural Criminal Justice Reform Summit in Los Angeles.

Presented by Variety and Rolling Stone, CNN's Van Jones will host the talk where celebrities including Fab 5 Freddy, Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin, Get Out actress Allison Williams and more will discuss wrongful convictions, mass incarceration, how the system can be corrected and other hot topics. The date for the summit has been set for Nov. 14, when panelist will gather at the Jeremy West Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif.

Meek Mill, who covers the fall issue of XXL, has been in an infamous battle with the legal system in his native Philadelphia, as he fights the repercussions of charges dating back a decade.

In his cover story, he writes an open letter to his younger self about the issue he would face as a Black man in America. "I’ll be honest—same as African-Americans in this country—things are about to get both easier and more difficult for you," Meek noted. "Over the next decade, you and your people will make major moves—you, professionally and Black people, politically. We’ll all begin to realize that our culture is our most valuable product. Unfortunately, on the streets, not much will change. In 2018, Black lives won’t matter much more than they do in 2006."

In the face of his own legal issues, he has become a strong advocate for change.

Kim has gotten involved in the issue as well. Earlier this year, she had a hand in getting President Donald Trump to pardon 63-year-old Alice Marie Johnson.
