For those hoping Lady Gaga and Ryan Murphy's next project will earn her a second Golden Globe, we've got some news: Gaga isn't lined up to play Donatella Versace in Murphy's American Crime Story Season 3. In fact, the role hasn't been cast yet.

At the Television Critics Association (TCA) winter press tour, Murphy told reporters that despite rumors (and Murphy's own previous teases), Gaga has not been cast as Donatella. What's more, you won't see the FX series return for Season 2 until 2018 — but when it does, Katrina: American Crime Story and the Season 3 telling of Gianni Versace's 1997 murder will debut in fairly quick succession. FX Networks CEO John Landgraf told reporters this production schedule was partially due to needing to avoid hurricane season in New Orleans for Katrina, as weather risks make insurance costs high.

"They're going to have a long hiatus and then we're going to get back on cycle," Landgraf said of American Crime Story's timetable (quote via THR). "They're going to air within like six months of each other."

Season 3 will be based on the book Vulgar Favors by author Maureen Orth, who was already working on a story about suspected serial killer Andrew Cunanan for Vanity Fair before he even shot Versace.

Lady Gaga is next slated to co-star in Bradley Cooper's A Star Is Born, currently in pre-production. Does all of this mean she's free for, I don't know, a Joanne stadium tour?
