Lady Gaga Says Flying Dress Honors Youth, Performs at artRave [PHOTOS]
Sunday is usually the day of rest, but not for Lady Gaga. On Nov. 10, the singer debuted her flying dress aka Volantis and explained the technology behind it. She also hosted her artRave album release party for 'ARTPOP.'
Something tells us the flying dress might revolutionize fashion runways and make them flyaways. Okay, thanks, we'll be here all week.
The dress was revealed at a building in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The dress is powered by six batteries and is a vehicle. We won't get into the technology since it seems to still be in beta mode and it's confusing. But the reason that Gaga created the dress is what's inspiring and what little monsters will care about.
"I wanted to make today about something even more important to me, and that something is the youth of the world," Ma Monster proclaimed. "Their minds are just so boundless. They’re just so inspiring." The dress isn't merely a mode of transport. It's "essentially a metaphor for me. I will be a vehicle today for their voices." The "their" she references is today's youth!
Designer Nancy Tilbury of XO in London said they are still testing the dress. She described the technology as "feminine…there's a certain elegance to it."
