Justin Bieber Desperate to Keep Court Deposition Private
Justin Bieber may be going to court — and he doesn’t want anyone else to know what’s up if and when he does.
TMZ reports that Bieber and his camp are desperate for details of a deposition not to be made public. The ‘Baby’ singer is being sued by a Miami paparazzo named Jeffrey Binion, who claims that a member of Bieber’s security team named Hugo Hesny stole his camera and choked him this past June. He’s also stating that Bieber’s friend Lil Za was physical with him; Lil Twist was also present, but only to encourage Za’s foolish behavior.
Some background: Bieber allegedly ordered Hesny to throw Binion, who insists he is a professional photographer and not a paparazzo, against a wall. Binion claims that Hesny grabbed him by the throat and “displayed a gun,” which was in a holster under his shirt, while he and the other bodyguards ripped the memory card from his camera.
Binion claimed bodily injury, pain and suffering, mental anguish and incurred medical expenses in his suit. His attorney, Russell S. Adler, said, “Justin Bieber is now an adult, and he should act like one. He needs to learn that he cannot use bodyguards as weapons to harm innocent people. Bieber’s violent behavior toward photographers must end, and he should take responsibility for his actions. No amount of fame or fortune justifies Bieber’s shameful and outrageous conduct. To send him that message and deter his misbehavior in the future, we will seek punitive damages against him as allowed by Florida law.”
Here’s where it can get ugly for Biebs and Hesny: Adler claims that at the time of the incident, Hesny wasn’t licensed as a bodyguard in Florida and he doesn’t have a permit to carry a concealed weapon in the state.
Now that Bieber has to give a deposition, he’s being very, very careful about it potentially leaking. Depositions are videotaped, and his team is terrified that Bieber will be questioned about matters unrelated to the case — which he will have to answer under oath. “It is highly likely that the entire deposition will be published to the public,” a source told TMZ. Basically, his team is scared that he’ll be questioned about his other allegedly bad behavior: You know, weed, hookers, underage drinking at his parties … that sort of thing.
Oh, and more weed.
Bieber’s camp is requesting that no copies be made of the original deposition recording. Good luck with that!
