Jason Derulo is accusing American Airlines of racial discrimination after a confrontational scene at Miami International Airport.

According to TMZDerulo says he and eight fellow travelers arrived at the airport and, as Derulo's a AA preferred flying member and holds a Concierge Key, he expected that he'd be able to check the group's 19 bags. But Derulo claimed a staffer was rude and denied the request, perhaps because the crew was late. Ultimately, though, one member of Derulo's team stayed behind to try to get the bags on the flight while everyone else boarded.

Derulo, who finally got on the flight, said that he then got a call that indicated AA wanted to charge $6,000 to check the bags in question. Derulo demanded to be taken back to the gate to rectify the situation, and the pilot went nuts on him. Derulo said police were waiting for him at the gate, and that it wasn't until AA and authorities realized he was a pop star that they backed off a little bit.

Derulo then posted an image and message to Instagram calling out those responsible for the incident.

"I spent millions on your airline throughout the past ten years between myself and my entire staff but have still experienced racial discrimination today at miami airport!!!" Derulo wrote. "Called 15 police officers on me as if I'm a criminal! It's not ok that when you find out who I am the gears change! F--- that!! I want answers."

Derulo also noted in a Local 10 News video: "If I was not who I was, if I wasn't Jason Derulo, I wouldn't be here right now I'd be in f---ing cuffs," he said. "It's 100 percent racial because the initial thought in people's minds is 'these hoodlums are causing problems.'"
