‘It Follows’ Review

So, over the weekend I was in the mood to go see a film at the theater and I had my choice between "Furious 7" ($147 million over the weekend) or "It Follows," a horror film that has been getting rave reviews. I decided to go with a friend to "It Follows" because we both really wanted to see it and I love horror films. My friend told me she scares very easily, so I was in a for a ride.

"It Follows" is about the girl, Jay, who starts getting followed by a demon/spirit and it's transmitted from person to person in an interesting way. The big thing is that the people who have "It," or used to, can see the spirit all the time. If "It" catches Jay then it will go to the person before her and go down the line killing them one by one. The thing that builds up the tension is that "It" doesn't run or jog but walks at a pace towards Jay, never changing which builds the drama up so amazingly. Plus, the music is phenomenal in getting everyone paranoid that something is coming. Not only was I tense the whole time, but my friend screamed and jumped several times. There are only a few jump scares, but it's the building tension that gets to you. I highly recommend this movie and I will probably buy it as soon as it comes out on Blu Ray.
