Apple made more news today as they announced the all new iPad 2. The announcement opened with Steve Jobs, looking "good", relaying sales figures that Apple has seen over the past year. Then Jobs rolled into the big unveiling of iPad Part Deux. The iPad 2 ships March 11th! Jobs opened the announcement by saying "We've been working on this product for a while, and I didn't want to miss today. Thanks for having me." He went on to rattle off sales numbers and volume stats. Things like; "100 million iBooks downloaded so far, in less than a year", "200 million accounts, for iTunes/App Store/iBookstore", "recently shipped their 100 millionth iPhone", "Majority of Apple's revenue comes from 'post-PC' products: iPhone, iPod, iPad", "15 million iPads sold in the 9 months of 2010 it was on sale. More than every Tablet PC ever sold", "$10 billion in revenue for Apple, from the iPad" and "we've never had a product that got off to that fast of a start".

Then the showed the brand new iPad 2. Going to get extra geeky here for a minute. The iPad 2 runs on iOS4.3. It's running a new chip, the A5. That's dual-core processors that make the iPad 2 twice as fast with 9x faster graphics. It has a rear and front facing camera, dramatically thinner and lighter and it has a 10-hour battery life with a month long standby time.

Pricing will be the same as the 1st generation iPad, so the base model 16GB iPad 2 will run you $499. The 32GB is $599, 64GB $699 and it's an additional $130 to add 3G.

At this point Jobs and the crew launched into demoing apps including Facetime, iMovie, Garage Band and PhotoBooth. All available on the iPad 2 at launch.

The iPad 2 will be available at Apple Stores, retailers, AT&T, Verizon and online store starting March 11th!
