House Republicans Back Insure Montana Plan Which Helps Subsidize Small Business’s Insurance for Employees
HELENA, Mont. (AP) – House Republicans are announcing a plan to extend the state’s health insurance subsidy program for small businesses.
Insure Montana helps small businesses buy health insurance for their employees at reduced group rates.
Gov. Steve Bullock’s budget proposal calls for eliminating funding for the program in about a year.
House Majority Leader Gordy Vance of Bozeman said Thursday that Republicans will be adjusting the governor’s budget to restore the program.
Vance says GOP leaders worked with State Auditor Monica Lindeen’s office to find funding needed to keep the program in place for another two years.
Several small businesses who use the program said Thursday that it is crucial for providing insurance to employees.
