HARRISON, Mont. (AP) - Madison County sheriff's deputies arrested a 14-year-old student from Harrison after two guns, including one that was loaded, were found in his backpack on school property.

KTVM-TV reports Harrison Superintendent Fred Hofman released a statement Friday saying a student told him after school on Friday that she'd heard another student had a gun in his backpack. That student was taken to the superintendent's office and his backpack was secured.

Hofman says the student told him he had two handguns. An assistant principal called 911 and the student's parents.

Deputies took the boy into custody.

Hofman says the school will handle the mater in accordance with school policy.

The Madison County attorney will determine whether charges should be filed.
