I hope you made it up to Big Sky this past weekend to enjoy the Chamberlin Rail Jam in its first year on the slopes of Big Sky. If not, you missed quite the show. Skiers and Riders threw down their best tricks on the rails, boxes, and the wall hits to impress the judges and the crowd. If you have not heard yet, the lovely ladies and winners of the 2012 Gallatin Valley Girl Contest have finished up the calendar and it is ready to be purchased. Last night, I was out at the Korner Klub just which is just one of the bars featured in the calendar. The calendar is going for $10 dollars a piece with the a portion of the proceeds going to the Montana Horse Sanctuary.   The girls were killing it last night, taking pictures and signing autographs. Don’t worry if you missed them last night you can catch up with them tonight out at the Broken Arrow in Manhattan!

I will be broadcasting with the ladies from 6-7:30 p.m.  so come out and grab yourself a drink, get a picture and an autograph with the ladies while getting your hands on the 2012 Budweiser Gallatin Valley Girl Calendar! Kick off the New Year right:)

Every year the new and returning students are welcomed back to the MSU campus with a huge party on the main mall of campus called Catapalloza.  Live music plays all day featuring Bozemans best talent. Tons of MSU clubs, activities and Bozeman businesses throw up a tent and give out tons of goodies to welcome and inform students of their business or activity. Wednesday through Friday of next week marks the 5th year KISS has set up shop, played some music, given out Pepsi and broadcast live from the wildly energetic campus.

For the past 3 years we’ve teamed up with Rocky Mountain Credit Union.  Headed by crazy man Larry Bauer, RMCU brings a huge amount of energy and entertainment via the  Mad Maze Mirror Game (a maze daring passers by to finish a maze only visible through a mirror).  We also provide lots of RMCU gear and info as well as Pepsi products kept ice cold via ice provided by The Ice House.

The energy that is flowing through the event is amazing.  If you have never been to Catapalooza, it’s a must see for sure.  It’s fun meeting all of the new students with their parents and also seeing familiar faces.  It’s a good reminder of the great place Bozeman is and that it’s largely due to Montana State and the great people it attracts.

Last night the Gallatin Valley Cinemas was home to the Bozeman release and one thing is clear.  People love the Potter.  Every single screen in the movie plex was showing the film in either 3d or 2d and every single seat was bought and paid for before the doors even opened.  1300 in total.

Chadwick and Ashley showed up around 10pm to enjoy the party, play some music and hand out some delicious Rosauers donuts, hot chocolate and Dr. Pepper from Lehrkinds.

The crowd was all in good spirits until some rednecks (so they seemed to me) drove through a puddle splashing some of those waiting in line.  Some speeding cars drove irresponsibly fast through the parking lot but luckily no one was hurt and all made it into the theater for a good show.

The KISS crew were not part of the lucky 1300 to see the show but from what we’ve heard from those who did go, it sounds amazing.  I’m looking forward to seeing it and putting a bookend at the end of the Harry Potter era.

During one of the more serious parts of the night, which had many of the attendee’s in tears, a performer stripped off drag outfit including his fabulous hair, shimmery makeup, and elegant dress to reveal who was inside the disguise. All at the same time the performer’s mom was sitting front-row giving all of her support to her son.

Townsquare Media held The first ever Budweiser Gallatin Valley Girl Contest last night. After six weeks of auditions, at various Bars around the Valley, The Stage was finally set for last nights Finals at Mixers in Downtown Bozeman. The Crowd was pumped with several patrons showing up hours early. By show time the bar was packed, and everyone was on their feet trying to catch a glimpse of the 15 finalist on stage.

With Round 1, we got to see all of the girls looking stunning in their Cocktail Dress attire. In Round 2, we held a mock photo shoot with the girls posing on our set in their swimsuits. These Girls really knew how to work it, and got the crowd going. In the Final Round of the night, the girls came out in their Western Attire wearing Tank Tops, Jean Shorts, Boots, and Cowgirl Hats. Each looking like a true Gallatin Valley Girl.

After the 3^rd and Final Round, the Judges handed in their score cards. The girls and crowd waited in anticipation as we summed the online votes along with the judges score. After 30 minutes of nail biting, the results were in. All of the finalists were brought back on the stage anxious for the results. Chadwick announced the TOP 3 Finalist for the 2012 Gallatin Valley Girl. First, Jennifer Kinville; Second, Kate Fontes; And Third, Amanda Caldwell.  All three remained on the stage  hugging each other as they waited nervously to hear who would be the first ever Gallatin Valley Girl.

The crowd was going crazy yelling and screaming for their favorites. Chadwick takes the mic, pauses, and a quietness comes over the hostile crowd…… “AND THE WINNER IS………. AMANDA CALDWELL!” The crowd went will and debauchery ensued.

The Calendars will be on sale at each of the bars we held auditions at.  The cover will feature a lovely photo of Amanda and throughout the calendar will be all three, Amanda, Kate and Jennifer posing in our featured Bozeman bars. The photos will be taken in the weeks to come at each of the Bars where we held our auditions at. We will release teaser photo’s for the Calendar on our websites in the months to come as well so stay tuned.

It could be Hurley’s performance that kicks off the show as she is starring in the pilot which will need to see a good response from the audience before NBC turns it into a full series. Not sure about you but we can’t wait to see Miss Hurley in the Villain role yet again.

Hurley’s deal is not official yet, TV Line reports, as there are still outstanding visa issues. But should it close, Hurley would play Veronica Cale, a scientist and businesswoman with a secret plan. The role was originally written as a one-time guest spot, but it could turn into a recurring part should the project get picked up.

Ken and Barbie have some stiff competition (no pun intended) in the doll market. Kids love variety and I think they always will. I support the decision to evolve the stoic figurine but what could possible make a splash big enough to get the kids saying “I want one! I want one!” ?

It’s a delicate balance. Too much self-mockery could be interpreted as a signal that Mattel isn’t serious about the brand. Walt Disney Co.‘s Pixar Animation Studios took a poke at Ken in its Oscar-nominated “Toy Story 3,” where the doll shows up wearing short shorts, an open shirt and a blue ascot while tooling around in a pink convertible, seemingly oblivious to his main purpose to serve as arm candy for Barbie.

Some saw Ken’s love of fashion and his gold-and-purple “dream house” in “Toy Story 3″ as a sly wink at longtime rumors of a conflicted sexuality, and an example of how the brand can appeal to multiple markets.

Barbie has long been the alpha female. Sean McGowan, a toy analyst with Needham & Co., estimated that Ken makes up less than 10% of the Barbie line’s sales. He said Ken’s appearance in “Toy Story 3″ could have backfired.

“Ken stole the show ’cause he’s a clothes magnet,” McGowan said. “That’s risky, but it worked. He winds up looking cool. [But] that’s a fine line between parody and pushing the envelope.”

WASHINGTON – The red swimsuit that helped make “Charlie’s Angels” actress Farrah Fawcett an icon is going to the Smithsonian in Washington.

Fawcett’s longtime companion Ryan O’Neal donated the swimsuit and other items to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History on Wednesday. A 1976 poster of Fawcett in the dampened red swimsuit sold millions of copies.

Also donated to the Smithsonian were Fawcett’s copies of scripts for the first season of “Charlie’s Angels” and a 1977 Farrah Fawcett doll.

The items will be part of the museum’s popular culture history collection.

Fawcett died in 2009 at the age of 62 after battling cancer.
