French Montana’s Tour Bus Target of Drive-By Shooting in Philadelphia, One Person Dead
A good time turned into tragedy following a French Montana concert in Philadelphia when a drive-by shooting occurred outside of the rapper's tour bus.
The 28-year-old Bad Boy signee performed at Philadelphia's Theatre of the Living Arts and headed to a nearby Holiday Inn Express after the show. With his tour bus parked outside of the hotel, fans arrived and began to surround the vehicle. Members of Montana's entourage were reportedly amongst the crowd when authorities say an unknown person fired shots from a passing car.
Chief Inspector Scott Small spoke with a local Action News reporter about the incident, which left one person dead and another wounded. "A large crowd of fans, as well as some of the entourage, were loitering and just hanging out on Christopher Columbus Blvd., when according to some of the witnesses, they say a car drove by and opened fire," Small explains.
Several people who were taken into custody had semi-automatic handguns, according to authorities. More than two dozen people, including French Montana supporters and his entourage, were also taken in for questioning.
A victim was pronounced dead at Hahnemann University Hospital after being transported. Cops say another victim, who was shot in the shoulder, showed up at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
"We don't know if the victim himself was the driver or somebody drove him and then abandoned the vehicle. However, we're holding onto that car. It's being darted for fingerprints," Small says.
French Montana didn't directly speak about the turn of events after his show but did post a photo to his Instagram account showing a friend being questioned by police. The caption: "nobody got time for this s---."
