Black Eyed Peas frontwoman Fergie is reportedly up for a spot on Fox's hotly anticipated reality show 'The X Factor,' Simon Cowell confirmed to reporters this week.

"Her name was put forward. But like with a lot of other people we have spoken to, we have to check out everyone's availability. There is lot of time you have to put into this show. It is not a 2 or 3 day a week job," he said yesterday.

Among the other contenders are Gloria Estefan, who reportedly "turned up unexpectedly" to mentor 'X Factor' hopefuls in Miami, Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey and Paula Abdul.

Meanwhile, record executive L.A. Reid has been confirmed as a judge on the show, which premieres in the fall.

Last week, Reid also let it slip that Cheryl Cole, a judge on the original 'X Factor,' will also be on the panel, though no official word has been made.
