There was one thing in the most recent trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them that stood out among the rest — the mention of a certain headmaster at Hogwart’s School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, maybe you’ve heard of him? As the new spinoff takes place several decades before the events of the Harry Potter series, Dumbledore isn’t headmaster just yet, but he does get a healthy name-drop in the trailer. And that has us wondering if we’ll see (or hear of) any other familiar characters in the upcoming film.

The latest trailer included a shout-out to Professor Dumbledore, who apparently thinks quite highly of Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander, the magizoologist who travels to New York with a magical suitcase full of curious creatures. We already know that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find them will feature some creatures we’ve seen in previous Harry Potter films (merpeople, for instance), but will it include any other characters we’ve met before?

In an interview with MTV, co-stars Alison Sudol and Dan Fogler were asked about the possibility. Sudol, who plays the bewitching Queenie Goldstein, offered a vague answer that seemed like an attempt to manage expectations:

I wouldn’t say there are a lot, but because it is its own world and it’s also so much earlier, there are people who are alive.

Fogler, who plays Newt’s muggle friend Jacob Kowalski, was not nearly as coy:

You do meet…as the stories go along…you…you…I can’t give it away! You will see, you will hear mention of your favorite characters and you may even meet their younger counterparts along the way.

He might also be referring to the sequels, as Warner Bros. has plans for two more Fantastic Beasts movies, leaving plenty of room to incorporate younger versions of beloved characters (McGonagall, maybe? We can hope) or toss in a few fun references.

Directed by Harry Potter vet David Yates from a screenplay by J.K. Rowling, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them also stars Katherine Waterston, Colin Farrell, Ezra Miller, Ron Perlman, Samantha Morton, Carmen Ejogo and Jon Voight, and hits theaters on November 18.
