Last month, Drake‘s ex, Ericka Lee, whose voice appeared in ‘Marvin’s Room,’ filed a lawsuit against the rapper. While Drizzy fired back in the press, he didn’t file his official response in court until now.

According to Lee’s original suit, when the couple was still together, Drake supposedly agreed to collaborate with Lee on ‘Marvin’s Room’ and divvy up the profits. Drake allegedly also texted Lee, writing, “U basically made that song” and “It’s s— without you.” Lee claimed that they broke up soon after the song was released, at which point Drake promised her, via text, two percent of “publishing royalties.” After Lee hired an attorney last Novemeber, Drake offered her a small percentage of the song’s publishing royalties and a $50,000 payout. Lee turned the offer down and sued Drizzy for restitution and a credit as the track’s co-writer.

In his official response to the suit, Drake claims “she [Lee] consented to the use of her voice in the song ‘Marvin’s Room’ for no compensation.” Oh really? To add insult to injury, TMZ reports that Drake denied any romantic relationship with Lee whatsoever. Drake also denied threatening Lee after she hired her attorney. Per Drake’s rep, ”Drake tried for months to resolve the matter amicably, and he now looks forward to being vindicated in court.”

Let us all learn a lesson from this: Don’t drink and text!
