Daniel Radcliffe, whose recent Imperium film follows an FBI agent's undercover investigation of a white supremacy group, isn't letting Hollywood off the hook for what he says is the industry's own discriminatory practices.

In an interview with the BBCwhich covered everything from the actor's Harry Potter days to the United States Presidential election, Radcliffe said the film world is still way behind when it comes to inclusivity.

"I think it's pretty undeniable," he said when asked if Hollywood is racist. "We like to think of ourselves as being a very, very progressive industry, but we have been lagging behind in all kinds of areas that have been very well documented."

Radcliffe said he does feel encouraged to change the dynamic by being eligible to vote for things like Academy Awards winners, he added. At the 2016 show, every actor and actress nominated for leading and supporting roles was white.

"I can make a tiny difference, absolutely," he said. "I think now that these conversations have come up, things are going to start changing. I'm starting to see it in scripts I read, particularly for female characters — you see people actually trying to make more of an effort."

Radcliffe, who was forced to issue racist slurs while filming Imperium, often apologized to his fellow actors of color between takes, he told The Daily Show in August.

"I did find myself — whenever I was using racial slurs and stuff in the film — I would have to go up to the actors afterwards and be like ‘I’m so sorry,'” he recalled. “‘I just, like, have to say it. I know you know that I don’t mean this, but I still feel like I have to say it.’ We were the most apologetic bunch of skinheads."
